State police at Schuylkill Haven report on crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways:

• A crash was reported at 7:45 a.m. along Route 61 in Port Clinton. Troopers said Brian J. Moroney, 61, of Shoemakersville, was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Colorado truck northbound in the left turn lane when his vehicle sideswiped a 2019 Ford F450 truck driven by Earle J. Keim, 51, of Pennsburg, as he attempted to make a U-turn. Troopers said Moroney was operating an emergency vehicle and was responding to a fire call. After impact the Ford hit a road sign.

No one was injured. The Chevrolet had to be towed. Moroney was issued a warning, troopers said.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 1:35 a.m. on Sept. 1 at West Second Mountain Road and Haven Fair Lawn Drive, in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Daniel J. Long, 21, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2021 Toyota Corolla westbound when he swerved to avoid hitting a deer on the road. His vehicle went onto the berm and struck a small embankment and then a tree.

Long and his passenger, Erin E. Boyer, 22, of Schuylkill Haven, were not injured. He was cited for the crash.

• Beth A. Webber, 46, of Orwigsburg, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 8:19 a.m. Sept. 1 on Ridge Road in North Manheim Township, according to state police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks.

They said she was driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla westbound when a groundhog entered its path. The woman maneuvered the vehicle off the northern shoulder of the road and attempted to gain control of the car, but it struck a tree and flipped over.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.
