Anniversary Celebration

First United Methodist Church, 124 W. Broad St. is celebrating the church’s 190th anniversary at the 11:15 a.m. worship service on Sept. 25. Everyone is invited to attend.

Tamaqua Senior Citizens

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Sept. 1 with 24 members in attendance. President Mary Bittle opened the meeting with the reading “Teach Me Thy Way O Lord.”

Jean Machamer was given a warm welcome back by the group. September birthday being celebrated include: Joyce Krell, Roberta Hollenbach, Ruthann Feane and Nancy Eisley.

The group meets every Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Fundraiser

Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care is holding Kauffman’s Chicken BBQ Fundraiser on Oct. 5 from 4-6 p.m. It is take out only.

Meal includes half a chicken, baked potato, coleslaw and roll. There will also be a bake sale and 50/50 drawing. Call 570-668-6556 for tickets/information.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday at Zion Church Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

Womens Bible Study will meet every Monday at Memorial Hall at 6:30 p.m.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Ralph Saunders will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday at Lewistown Valley Tabernacle. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. Evening worship is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15 is a cleaning participation day at Calvary Church. All are welcome to help.

Services will continue at Lewistown Valley Tabernacle.

60th Class Reunion

The Tamaqua Area Joint High School Class of 1962 will hold their 60th Class Reunion on Saturday with an afternoon buffet at Basile’s, Hometown from noon-4 p.m. A class photo will be taken at 12:30, buffet dinner from 1-2 p.m., 2-4 p.m. will be a class meeting and reminiscing.
