September 15, 1984 - Palmerton’s Clark Wentz and Georgianna Messinger take first-place honors at the Fourth Annual Palmerton Hospital Festival 10 K Run. Wentz turns in a time of 32:31 to finish 33 seconds ahead of runner-up Mike Flynn of Allentown in the men’s race. Messinger, a member of ESU’s cross country team, completes the course in 38:11 to not only win the female’s race but also establish a new record she had set two years earlier. A total of 69 runners compete in the event, which started at the hospital.
