A new roof for its municipal building will cost Lehighton nearly $160,000.
On a 6-0 measure, borough council on Monday awarded a contract for a new roof at borough hall to Spotts Brothers Inc. for $159,890.
Work is anticipated to start this month, and will include masonry, metals, wood and plastics, thermal and moisture protection, finishes and specialties.
The project is being paid for from the borough’s general fund.
Also on Monday, council approved a resolution to apply for a Local Share Account grant.
As part of their action, council members designated borough Manager Steve Travers and council President Grant Hunsicker to execute all documents between the borough and the Commonwealth Financing Authority to facilitate and assist in obtaining the requested grant for the demolition of 135-139 North First St.
In July, council approved Keystone Engineers proposal of $28,000, provided the money was budgeted, to provide specs for the demolition project at 135-139 North First St.
