Northwestern’s soccer teams both won by identical 7-0 scores on Tuesday.

BOYS SOCCER

Northwestern-Salisbury

Matt Johnson’s hat trick highlighted Northwestern’s 7-0 Colonial League victory over Salisbury.

Josh Zellner contributed two goals and an assist to the decisive win, which upped the Tigers record to 8-0 overall, and 5-0 in the league.

Tim Zellner added a goal and a helper, while Caden Mertz also tallied for Northwestern. Nate Kinzel, Cayden Lloyd and Dart DeLillo all chipped in with assists.

The loss dropped the Falcons to 3-4 overall, and 2-3 in the CL.

Palmerton-Saucon Valley

Palmerton dropped a 6-3 Colonial League decision to Saucon Valley.

Trevor Anthony had a goal and an assist for the Blue Bombers, while Riley Fallon and Riley Bonser also scored goals.

Trey Sterling made 14 saves for Palmerton, who fell to 1-7 overall, and 0-5 in the league.

The win lifted the Panthers to 2-3 overall, and 2-2 in the CL.

GIRLS SOCCER

Salisbury-Northwestern

Northwestern posted its fifth consecutive shutout as it blanked Salisbury 7-0 in Colonial League action.

Cammy Fitch had two goals and an assist to lead the Tigers, while Sammy Bardonner contributed a goal and a pair of assists.

The winners also received goals from Lexi Vennera, Kaite Brensinger, Brook Balliet and Kirsten Esterly. Balliet and Brensinger also chipped in with assists, as did Paige Bissell and Shelby Shupp.

Northwestern improved to 7-1 overall, and 5-0 in the league, while Salisbury fell to 3-3.

Saucon Valley-Palmerton

Palmerton continued its winning ways by posting a 2-1 Colonial League victory over Saucon Valley.

Beth Morgan had a goal and an assist for the undefeated Blue Bombers, who are 7-0 overall, and 5-0 in the league.

The winners also received a goal from Nataly Walters, and an assist from Riley Gerhard. Palmerton keeper Emma Snyder finished the contest with 13 saves.

No. Lehigh-Notre Dame GP

Notre Dame-Green Pond edge Northern Lehigh 3-2 in a Colonial League contest.

The Bulldogs received goals from both Nicole Zarayko and Victoria Hanna.

The winners improved to 5-1 overall, and 4-1 in the league. The Bulldogs fell to 4-3 and 3-3.

The Northwestern boys posted a perfect 3-0 mark in a Colonial League meet at Bicentennial Park.

The Tiger girls, as well as the Northern Lehigh girls and Palmerton boys, all finished 2-1.

Matt Santana led the Northwestern boys with a first-place finish in a time of 16:44. Teammate Sam Bower finished in second, two seconds behind Santana.

Brothers Owen and Connor Hibell of Palmerton followed next in third and fourth, respectively.

In the girls race, the Tigers’ Angelina Klein placed fourth with teammate Sophia Cornell crossing in 11th. The Bulldogs’ top runner was Emma Heil, who ended in 12th.

Pleasant Valley was swept in an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference meet involving six schools at Pocono Mountain East.

Frankie Morales was the top male runner for PV, finishing 18th. PV’s Martin Green finished 18 seconds behind Morales in 19th, while Andrew Ryals (24th) and Jake Smith (29th) both ran times under 22 minutes.

In the girls race, Keeley Lawrence ended in 16th place for the Bears with a time of 26:21. Lilly Dannels also finished in the top-20 for Pleasant Valley.

FIELD HOCKEY

Easton-Pleasant Valley

Easton remained unbeaten after cruising to a 7-1 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Pleasant Valley.

While the Bears suffered the loss, they did manage to score the first goal against the Rovers this season. Easton entered the contest with four straight shutouts and a 22-0 scoring margin.

PV’s Molly Sobers provided that tally with an assist from Heather Todaro.

The loss dropped the Bears to 2-4, while Easton is 5-0.

VOLLEYBALL

Jim Thorpe-Pine Grove

Brook Mitzen had 21 kills and 12 digs as undefeated Jim Thorpe outlasted Pine Grove, 3-2, in a Schuylkill League match.

Brianna Snisky added 14 kills and nine blocks for the Olympians, while Maggy Hallihan had a solid night with 42 assists, four aces, 10 digs and 14 service points.

The win upped Thorpe’s record to 6-0. The Cardinals dropped to 3-2.

Marian-Weatherly

Marian cruised to a 25-13, 25-6, 25-11 Schuylkill League victory over Weatherly.

Megan Paisley had seven kills and five digs for the Fillies, while Julia Meiss contributed 18 assists and four digs.

The winners, now 5-3, also received eight digs and five kills from Abbey Kluck, and nine aces and six digs from Jenna Goff.

For the Wreckers, who fell to 2-6, Kelly Michaels had six digs and two kills, while Taylor Davidovich had six digs and two aces. Becca Schell also chipped in with four digs and two aces.

Lehighton-Blue Mountain

Lehighton won the second game to forge a 1-1 tie with Blue Mountain, but the Eagles narrowly took the final two games to win a 25-18, 20-25, 25-27, 23-25 Schuylkill League match.

Haley Ginder had nine kills for the Indians, now 2-5, while Mia Snyder recorded 21 assists and three aces. Lyla Kershner finished with 10 digs, with Madelynn Stoffey contributing four kills and two aces.

Lehighton also received four aces, two kills and five blocks from Lily Kershner.

Panther Valley-Shenandoah

Emma Dacey had 10 aces and two kills to help Panther Valley sweep Shenandoah Valley 25-18, 25-12, 25-17 in Schuylkill League action.

Morgan Orsulak had three aces, 12 assists and two kills for the Panthers (6-1), who have won five matches in a row.

PV’s Riley McArdle also added three aces, four kills and five digs.

Palmerton-Catasauqua

Catasauqua downed Palmerton in Colonial League action 25-19, 25-19, 17-25, 25-12.

Jess Heydt had eight kills for the Blue Bombers, while Molly Rinker finished with four. Palmerton also received five digs and four assists from Jayleena Cruz.

Others contributing for the Bombers included Kaitlyn Heimbach (five digs) and Alysa Roe (six assists).

Both teams now own 2-4 records.

Central Catholic-Pleasant Vy.

Pleasant Valley fell in three straight games to Allentown Central Catholic, 25-20, 25-18, 25-23, in an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference match.

Hannah Akob had seven kills, seven digs and four blocks for the Bears, while Sarah Ballek finished with six kills and six blocks.

Jackie James (15 digs, four kills), Brianna Bruckman (12 assists, four digs) and Marian Saitta (eight digs, two aces) all contributed to the PV effort.

Pleasant Valley fell to 4-3, while Central Catholic improved to 3-2.

Lourdes-Tamaqua

Tamaqua battled Lourdes, but ended up dropping a 25-22, 22-25, 25-21, 25-23 Schuylkill League decision.

Sarah Coccio paced the Blue Raiders with 11 blocks, two aces and a kill, while Lacey Beers finished with 13 digs and an ace.

Tamaqua dropped to 1-7 overall, and 0-5 in the league.

GIRLS TENNIS

Jim Thorpe-Salisbury

Jim Thorpe posted a 4-1 victory over Salisbury.

Tara McLean, at No. 1 singles, posted the only contested victory for the Olympians as she earned a 6-1, 6-0 decision.

Thorpe received three forfeit wins, helping them improve to 4-5. The Falcons fell to 0-8.

Lydon Patascher fired a 72 to help Pleasant Valley gain a 427-434 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Central Catholic.

The Bears also received an 83 from Dakoda Lucas to help PV improve to 6-8.
