Tamaqua police said Michael Schmeltzle, 21, entered the home on July 16 when the victim was picking up a friend from work. The victim said a Play Station 4, controllers, video games, charging dock, memory cards, Nintendo Switch and other items were taken. He told police that he suspected Schmetzle took the items, and noted that he found a stool next to an unlocked window.
The victim contacted officers later that day to report that he learned from another person that Schmeltzle had the items and was afraid of being caught by police. Most of the items were returned to the victim. The items are valued at $66.
On Sept. 3, West Penn Township police stopped Schmeltzle and learned he was wanted in Tamaqua. He was taken into custody and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Rossi on charges of burglary, theft by unlawful taking and criminal trespass.
• A Lebanon woman faces additional charges after an Aug. 6 incident in Tamaqua.
Tamaqua police said Valerie Clark, 46, provided them with a fake name and date of birth when they were dispatched to the intersection of Mauch Chunk and Patterson for a report of a disorderly woman at 6:02 a.m. Upon arrival, police found Clark was shoeless, yelling and appeared to be under the influence of methamphetamine. She told police her name was Lisa Kissinger.
She was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. Police learned on Aug. 23 that Clark had lied about her name and charged her with providing false information to law enforcement.
