Woman charged in fatal drug overdose

An Ephrata woman has been charged in Lehigh County in the drug overdose death of a 30-year-old man on Sept. 10, 2020, according to the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office and Whitehall Township police.

Natalia Hellriegel, 29, is charged with the first-degree felony of drug delivery resulting in death, Lehigh County DA Jim Martin said Friday. She also faces other drug-related charges.

On Sept. 10, 2020, Whitehall Township police were called to a parking lot in the 2600 block of MacArthur Road for a cardiac patient, according to Martin.

When police arrived, they found Dominic Anthony of Lehigh Township, Northampton County, dead next to his motorcycle.

Anthony died of mixed drug toxicity and his death was ruled an accident by the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office at the time.

An investigation discovered text messages between Hellriegel and Anthony arranging a drug deal for heroin at Hellriegel’s home on that day. The arrest warrant says that Hellriegel delivered the heroin to Anthony that day.

Police and Martin say their investigation also found that Hellriegel delivered drugs to other people in February 2021.
