Congressional candidate’s record

There are so many political advertisements on television these days that it is hard to make sense of all of them. But I recently saw one about the Pennsylvania 7th congressional race that stood out to me. This is the race that will determine who represents Palmerton and the rest of Carbon County going forward - because we are in District 7.

Here is some background information from the TV advertisement: Lisa Scheller is running for Congress in the PA-7 district. She is the CEO of Silberline Manufacturing. Scheller frequently discusses her experience as a business owner and the success that she has had in her position. But, as the ad mentions, she does not discuss the fact that she closed a factory in our community.

As Silberline CEO, Lisa Scheller closed a factory in Lansford and decreased Silberline’s U.S. workforce by 60% during her tenure in leadership. She did this so she could export these jobs to her factories in China and reap the profits. This information is very important for our neighbors to hear about; it is something that voters need to be aware of. We rely on these jobs to support our families and support the community.

This is not a Democrat or a Republican issue. This is about whether or not a business owner truly values our community and has a demonstrated record of investing in it. The fact that Scheller clearly does not is disqualifying to me.

A concerned community member.
