Schuylkill County Commissioners
Schuylkill County Commissioners on Wednesday approved a number of actions.
• Renewed seven lease agreements with Pitney Bowes for postage machines at each of the magisterial district judges offices for 60 months at a cost of $54.34 per month per machine. Payments are made quarterly. The current lease expires Jan. 29, 2023.
• At the request of 911 Communications Director Scott Krater, they agreed to update the agency’s 24X 7-365 software and support agreement with INFOR Emergency Systems of Tampa, Florida, for support maintenance at a cost of $13,590.11. The agreement is retroactive to July 28, and runs through Dec. 31.
• Approved an application for the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s RASA/VOJO grant, which funds victim advocate service moneys that are administered through PCCD. The grants run from January 2023 through December 2024. The total amount of the grant is $274,064.
• Nine employees approved to attend the annual statewide Domestic Relations Association of Pennsylvania training conference in Pittsburgh, along with training related travel expenses. The conference will be held Sept. 18 to Sept. 22.
• A contract with Schuylkill Community Action for HUD consulting services for Butler Township, Minersville, Schuylkill Haven, and Wayne Township for 2022, 2023, and 2024. The cost is $3,000 per rehab unit plus reimbursable expenses. Technical assistance will be billed at a rate of $25 per hour as needed.
In a related matter, commissioners approved a contract with ProDesign Plus LLC for preparation of Community Development Block Grant applications for Butler Township, Minersville, and Schuylkill haven for 2022, 2023 and 2024 at a cost of $6,000 per application for a total of nine applications, and $80 per hour for technical assistance.
• Agreed to advertise for invitations to bid for snow when ice removal for the county’s parking lots. Bids are due to the controller’s office by 4 p.m. Sept. 26. They will be opened publicly at 9 a.m. Sept. 28 in the commissioners’ boardroom.
• Approved a coal lease with the Schuylkill County Airport Authority on a parcel which was transferred to the Airport Authority on Dec. 19, 2018. The county has agreed to terminate the authorities’ obligation and assigns the lease to the authority.
• An agreement with Spring Garden Heritage LLC of Harleysville for the lease of the Penn State Agricultural Center, on the Gordon Nagle Trail. Seiders’ Hill was sold, and Spring Garden Heritage will honor the terms and conditions of that lease. The new contract is effective July 6, expires Aug. 31, 2026.
