September 9, 1966 - Joe Ruggeri runs for 187 yards and two touchdowns, while Harry Wallaesa throws for a pair of scores to lead Tamaqua to a 44-20 victory over Minersville. The Blue Raiders, coached by Dick Jones, actually trail at halftime before using four touchdowns in the third quarter to take control. A 68-yard run by Ruggeri early in the third leads to a go-ahead 1-yard tally from Barry Southam. Wallaesa’s TD throws are a 13-yarder to Joe Mikruk and a 16-yarder to John Mateyak. Gene Silas also reaches the end zone on a 2-yard run. Defensively, Tamaqua receives interceptions from Bob Hartwig and George Wenzel.
