Art show this weekend in Palmerton

The Concourse Club of Palmerton will hold its annual Art & Photography Show in conjunction with the Palmerton Festival.

The show is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Church Hall, 3rd Street and Lafayette Avenue in Palmerton.

“We have many exciting entries this year” show chairperson Carol Curcio said. “We are also trying a new idea to help school-age children get more involved in the arts.”

The Lehigh Valley Children’s Centers, at 480 Delaware Avenue, has partnered with the Concourse Club to bring the “Artist Experience” to the show.

Children up to age 12 can to come to the show on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. and create their own artwork. Teachers from the childcare center will assist them. The artwork will then be hung on the walls of the show for viewing.

Refreshments will be available.

Visitors can select the “People’s Choice” winner by voting for their favorite piece of adult art in the show. Each person will be allowed to vote one time and a $100 prize will be awarded to the winner. On Sunday from 2-4 p.m. there will be an artist reception. The show is being judged by local art and photography professionals. Prizes will be awarded to the winners on Sunday afternoon during the reception.

There will be raffle tickets available. The prizes include an original painting by Duane Costenbader, a silk floral arrangement by Mary Anne Shafer, a signed William Wentz print, a painted cabinet by Linda Koehler and a art supplies.
