Carbon County commissioners
The Carbon County Commissioners acted on the following items during their weekly meeting on Thursday.
• Approved submitting an application to the Pennsylvania Counties Risk Pool for the 2022-2023 Loss Prevention Grant for equipment, licensing and professional services to install and configure equipment to provide a new and expandable backup solution.
• Approved a request from the Recorder of Deeds for an agreement with Reynolds Business Systems of Emmaus to convert all back scanned files and all files going forward to a PDF/A format. The agreement includes conversion to PDF/A, backup storage and future maintenance at a cost of $3,793.35 with an estimated $3,200-$3,400 annually for storage and maintenance.
• Approved a request to extend the meal service agreement for Area Agency on Aging with Metz Culinary Management of Dallas, Pa., for an additional two months to Nov. 2.
• Accepted a quote from Cash and Carry Electric to purchase a switchboard and components for the courthouse renovation project at a cost of $68,750.
• Accepted a quote from Denny Electric Supply of Penndel to purchase generators and associated equipment for the courthouse renovation project in the amount of $243,000.
• Accepted a quote from Denny Electric Supply for the purchase of generators and ATS equipment for the 525 Iron St., Lehighton project, in the amount of $83,000.
• Approved a proposal from Control Security of Jim Thorpe for the installation of a fire alarm system at the police building at the new Emergency Operations Training Center. The purchase includes six heat detectors, 11 pull stations, seven sirens/strobes, four strobes only, and one fire alarm control panel and other items at a cost of $6,472.
• Approved a proposal from Johnson Controls Fire Protection of Allentown to add an electronic access control system to six doors at the EOTC. The total cost is $10,953.21.

• Hire as recommended by department supervisor: Jeffrey A. Kunkel of Tamaqua, fiscal technician, Children and Youth, effective Sept. 6.
• Prison Board appointments: David A. Fernandez of Kresgeville and Jennifer M. Lindenmuth of Weatherly, corrections officers, both effective Sept. 5; and Keith L. Hydo of Nesquehoning and Ryan R. Sojtori of Freeland, corrections officers, both effective Sept. 12.
