Palmerton child center achieves ranking

The second Little Bombers day care and learning center in Palmerton has achieved a Star 4 ranking through the Keystone STARS (Standards, Training/Professional Development, Assistance, Resources, and Supports) program.

The first center is located at 128 Delaware Ave. with the second center located at 180 Delaware Ave., Palmerton.

The centers recently hosted a carnival to promote the achievement of the centers, with a bounce house, games, food, prizes and a dunk a teacher event with a dunk tank.

Keystone STARS is a quality rating system that promotes quality improvement in early learning and development programs and school-age child care. A Keystone STARS designation informs parents that their children are in a safe, respectful environment in which they are learning new things every day to support their current and future successes in school and in life.

Early learning programs participating in Keystone STARS can earn a quality rating score from a STAR 1 to a STAR 4. At each level, programs must meet certain quality standards in four key areas: staff education, learning environment, leadership/management, and family/community partnerships. The higher the STAR level, the higher the quality standards.

The second location serves infants and toddlers specifically.

Tarrah Greenawalt is the owner of both locations.

Greenawalt opened the first center six years ago and worked to become a star 4 center.

The new center has only been open since February 2022 and already achieved 4 star status as of August. The center is taking new enrollments and is also hiring new employees.
