A woman looking to start a military nonprofit has been rebuffed in her quest to hold a craft fair in the Palmerton Borough Park.

Borough council on Thursday unanimously denied the request of Miranda Moyer to hold a craft fair in the southwest quadrant of the park.

Moyer said she was looking to hold a craft fair, for which proceeds raised would go into an account, and that the park would be the perfect venue to have it.

Councilman Andrew Hollywood said the recommendation is to deny the request, and explained how council arrived at its decision.

Hollywood said council is trying to lessen the use of the park, and added it wasn’t comfortable with Moyer not being an established nonprofit, nor a borough resident.

Moyer lives in neighboring Lower Towamensing Township.
