Schuylkill crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven report the following crashes in Schuylkill County.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 2:39 p.m. on July 16 at the intersection of Main and Canal streets in Landingville borough. Troopers said Mark A. Arnold, 56, of New Ringgold, was driving a 1937 Chevrolet “Hot Rod” northbound on Main Street when the vehicle suffered a powertrain system failure and accelerated uncontrollably north. Arnold got the vehicle to stop by striking a fence at the Landingville Community Playground.

Arnold was not injured. Damages were minor to the vehicle.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 5:01 p.m. on July 16 along Oak Grove Road in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Sajid S. Kayou, 43, of Uniondale, New York, driving a 2010 Nissan X-Terra, entered Oak Grove Drive from Trumbo Road, and failed to yield to oncoming traffic. His vehicle hit a 2009 GMC Acadia operated by Shenae N. Dinger, 32, of Pine Grove, who was attempting to turn left onto Trumbo Road, police said.

Dinger had minor injuries and was taken to St. Luke’s-Geisinger Hospital, Orwigsburg. Kayou and his passenger, Estrella D. Lourdes, 40, of Woodside, New York, were not injured. The two vehicles had minor damage.

Kayou was cited for a stop sign violation.
