Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday at Zion Church Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

Zion Men will meet at 8 a.m. on Aug. 27 in Memorial Hall.

St. Peter’s West Penn

Aug. 21: 9 a.m. worship service, Blessing of the Backpacks; 10:15 a.m. Sundae Sunday; 2 p.m. worship service at St. Luke’s in Coaldale, fifth floor.

Aug. 28: 9 a.m. worship service, installation of Sunday school teachers and officers; 10:15 a.m. Sunday school begins.

Calvary Lewistown

The 10:25 a.m. worship service will be conducted by Calvary’s lay folks, with guest speaker the Rev. Brian J. Reading of Schuylkill Haven presenting the morning message at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. There is no Sunday evening service or Wednesday evening prayer meeting this week.

Lewistown Valley Camp Meeting

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Aug. 11 with 26 members in attendance. Secretary Ruthann Feane opened the meeting with the reading “Equal.”

Elba Dannenfeiser was given a warm welcome back and Sarah Huber was wished a happy birthday by the group.

The group meets every Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Casino bus trip

St. John Parish XXIII Parish of Tamaqua is running a bus trip to Wind Creek Casino, Bethlehem, on Sept. 17. Cost includes round trip transportation and a casino rebate (must be 21 years of age and have a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license or ID card to receive rebate). Call 272-267-0098 for details.
