Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown), holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. and then traditional service at 11 a.m. You can worship in person or in the parking lot by tuning the radio station to 104.3 FM or Facebook Live.

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. is prayer and praise.

Events for August:

Aug. 21 and 28, is a new Sunday school series for Contemporary Adult Class called “Your Move” with leader Sam Heiney. All adults are welcome to this class.

Sign-up is all month until Aug. 28 for tickets to attend the 25th anniversary celebration of our church. This special celebration is free, but you need to order a ticket to attend on Sept. 17 from 4-7 p.m.

Missions for August:

ABC Food Pantry, started by Faith Alive in April 2019. The desire is to help our church families and others in our community. Donated foods or paper products can be dropped off in the lobby by the office or monetary gifts can be put in the mission envelopes and placed in the weekly offering.

Micah’s Backpack Program is starting to collect food items for the 2022-23 school year. This program helps the needy students of the Palmerton Area School District. A list of food items needed are found on the church website.

Band concert

Closing out the summer Sunday in the Park band concerts for 2022 will be the Palmerton Band this Sunday beginning at 6:30 p.m.

JUCC

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, holds Sunday worship service in the picnic grove at 9 a.m. You can also remain in your vehicle in the parking lot and listen to the service on radio station 95.5 or watch live on Facebook. The service is also posted on the website after the service has concluded.

On Aug. 14, the congregation voted and welcomed the Rev. Marion Johnson as JUCC’s new pastor.

The church’s next event will be their Famous “Happy Bowl” stand at the Palmerton Community Festival, Sept. 9, 10 and 11. This includes chicken barbecue and homemade filling and gravy.

Holy Trinity Lutheran

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton will hold worship on Sunday at 10:15 a.m. If you plan to attend, call the church office at 610-826-2525. If you are unable to attend in person, you may join on Zoom. Communion will be served. Please remember to bring food items for the CACPAC Food Pantry.

The Community Festival is Sept. 9, 10 and 11. This year Holy Trinity will be selling molasses tongue cookies, mini cheesecakes and mint tea. There are sign-up sheets in the narthex for baking and working in the stand.

Basket raffle

The annual Palmerton Area Library basket raffle runs until Sept. 10. The drawing will be Sept. 12. The raffle will include a variety of baskets contributed by the library board.

Food pantry

The CACPAC-sponsored Palmerton Food Pantry will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road Palmerton on Aug. 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This pantry supports residents of the Palmerton Area School District only and you will need to show proof of residency and answer questions regarding your income.

This is a drive-thru event, so please remain in your vehicle and follow instructions given by volunteers. If you are unable to attend, someone may pick up for you.

The pantry is always in need of nonperishable food items, paper and personal care items. Donations may be dropped off at 459 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. a box is on the porch for donations. Local churches also collect on a regular basis.

Breakfast

An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, 525 Club Road, Palmerton. Menu items include eggs to order, potatoes, pancakes, SOS, toast, cereal, hash, ham, bacon, sausage, OJ, coffee, tea and milk.

Nearly New Shop

Stop in the Nearly New Shop, 225 Delaware Ave., Palmerton. Many great deals. They are open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
