West Penn hires officers

The West Penn Township Police force is two officers stronger.

On Monday, township supervisors hired Robert Lilly and Cody Searfoss to serve in part-time roles.

Shortly after they were appointed, board Chairman Anthony Prudenti issued the oath of office.

Police Chief James Bonner said Lilly and Searfoss will begin work immediately.

Also during Monday’s meeting, supervisors announced the start of an electronic auction of a 1979 Owens classic heavy equipment trailer and a Kuhn 6-foot flail mower. The listings may be found on www.municibid.com. The site gives government agencies, schools, authorities and utilities to opportunity to sell their surplus and forfeitures directly to the public.

The auctions are available to bid 24 hours a day. The West Penn listings will be online until 7 a.m. Sept. 6.

The board’s next meeting will be held Sept. 6. It will begin at 5 p.m. with a zoning ordnance hearing.
