7 years later, family wonders about missing Tamaqua man

On the 7-year anniversary of the day he went missing, Jesse Lee Farber’s family still hasn’t stopped looking for him.

Farber was 29 when he disappeared in Tamaqua on Aug. 11, 2015. In a phone call to his girlfriend that day, he said he was being chased by a pack of coyotes in the Sharp Mountain area.

Despite searches of the mountains in the area, Farber hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

Tammy Bachert penned an emotional letter to remind the public that friends and family are not giving up hope that he’ll be found.

In it, she noted that Farber - who is the father of her grandchildren - is 5 feet, eight inches, weighs 130 pounds, and has brown hair and hazel eyes. He grew up in Tamaqua and the surrounding areas and attended the Tamaqua Area High School, she said.

But she also talked about Farber’s personality and personal life. He was known for his sense of humor, she said.

“Jesse had a laid back personality that made making friends seem easy. He enjoyed almost all outdoor activities, camping, fishing, hunting, hiking. He also enjoyed cooking and serving holiday meals for his family. He had a motorcycle he was fond of working on as well as riding. He was keen on spending time with his children and took pride in them both,” she said.

He shared two children with his longtime partner and planned to return to college to become a mechanic.

“They hoped to buy a home of their own, move their family from the Tamaqua area, and eventually get married,” according to Bachert.

She said Farber had dreams, goals, likes, dislikes, wants and needs.

“He deserves to be acknowledged and actively looked for. He leaves behind a family that feels his absence daily and will continue to do so until he is found. Seven years of birthdays, holidays, and special occasions have passed without his presence. His loved ones have spent those years searching for him, missing him, and hoping for answers,” the wrote. “If he was your friend, your partner, your father, your family, would you look for him then?”
