Over 300 people attended a special meeting held by the Rush Township Supervisors to learn more about the Gould Inc. plant taking up operations at the Tidewood East Industrial Park, Hometown.

Under the workings of TIDE to obtain industry in the area, Gould has been under consideration.

The proposed industry is a lead smelting reclamation plant which would hire approximately 192 people.

TIDE president Tony Maff said the Hometown plant, if it becomes a reality, would reclaim lead from batteries and sell the plastic and rubber that the batteries are made from. He said the process would comply with Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations.
