Carbon County commissioners

At a public meeting Thursday, Carbon County commissioners approved several requests.

They were:

• Johnson Controls Fire Protection of Allentown for a new wireless and keyboard duress system for the courthouse and administration building at 44 and 76 Susquehanna St. for $81,711.10.

• Award of the contract to Anzalone Forensic Psychology LLC of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, for professional services for mental health, competency evaluations and counseling for the public defender’s office. The company’s rate is $175 per hour plus travel and sustenance, not to exceed $24,850 per year from Aug. 1, 2022, through Dec. 31, 2023.

• A contract for Teresa Crossin and on behalf of Keystone Court Reporting of Moosic, Lackawanna County, establishing per day court reporting service rates for stenographic services for the Court of Common Pleas as follows:

Half-day (up to 3 hours) $200; full-day (up to 8 hours) $350; over 8 hours billed at $50/hour.

The agreement may be terminated by either party giving a 30-day written notice.

• Modification requests to the 2022 Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act financial agreement, from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023, for employment and training and related administrative services between Carbon County (the administrative entity) and Monroe, Pike and Wayne counties.

For Monroe County, the modification includes an additional $1,316,252 in carry-over funding.

For Pike County, it includes an additional $429,796 in carry-over funding. The maximum payment is not to exceed $1,101,081.

The original payment was $671,285.

For Wayne County, it includes an additional $402,934 in carry-over funding. The maximum payment is not to exceed $830,220. The original payment was $427,286.

• For the Tax Assessment office, an addendum to a May 25 consulting agreement with Red Rock Summit LLC of Ogden, Utah, to add an additional 30 hours for rewriting and upgrading software.

• The appointment of Harold J. Pudliner of Weatherly, to fill the current vacancy and serve as a member of the Planning Commission Advisory Board until Dec. 31.

• Approval of a banner request for the Shrine of St. Therese, Nesquehoning, annual Shower of Roses Shrine of St. Therese. The banner will be displayed from Sept. 20 to Oct. 4.

• Authorizing an advertisement for invitation to bid for a Community Development Block Grant project for Mahoning Township.

The project involves street improvements to Center Road, and reconstructing/paving Woodlawn Drive to Maple Drive.
