Carbon County commissioners

The Carbon County Commissioners approved the following items during their weekly meeting on Thursday:

• $42,405 from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency for the Carbon County Intermediate Punishment program. The funds will cover a partial salary of one adult probation officer, purchase drug testing supplies and pay for treatment for offenders who are not eligible for Medical Assistance, outpatient group and individual therapy.

• A recommendation to reject the bids for a Community Development Block Grant project at the request of Mahoning Township. The project is for reconstructing and paving Woodlawn Drive to Maple Drive.

• A proposal from Barry Isett & Associates Inc. of Hazleton for GIS services under the 2021 PEMA Statewide Interconnectivity Project for problematic addressing issues in East Penn Township, Jim Thorpe and Mahoning Township. The cost is $12,625 plus reimbursable expenses.

Personnel

• Resignations: Brian M. Bamford of Nesquehoning, corrections officer, effective July 27; and Sophia E. Civitano of Lehighton, legal secretary III, public defender, effective Aug. 10.

Acknowledgments

• Court resignation: Stacey L. Boyle of Palmerton, secretary I, district magistrate, Palmerton, effective July 25.

• Sheriff appointment: Colton Hurley of Jim Thorpe, deputy sheriff, effective Aug. 1.
