A new set of wheels will eventually join Palmerton police department’s fleet of vehicles.

On a 6-0 vote, borough council on Thursday agreed to purchase a brand-new police interceptor in the amount of $43,175.

Borough police Chief Tim Kromer noted that the department will utilize rescue funds to buy the vehicle.

In other police department-related moves, council:

• Approved the police department code of conduct.

• Tabled the police department mobile video/audio recording policy.

• Tabled police car upfitting.

• Approved the police department’s request to participate with the sobriety checkpoint program (Highway Safety Network).
