State police at Frackville

State police at Frackville reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers along Schuylkill County roadways.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 10:03 p.m. on July 23 along Route 309 in Rush Township. Troopers said Lee S. Miller, 71, of Middleport, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala southbound and traveled through the intersection with Mahanoy Avenue. The vehicle traveled off the west side of the road and struck a cement curb. It then traveled partially into the Beacon Diner parking lot, traveled back onto 309 striking the curb a second time.

Miller was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed. Miller was cited for the crash.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 10:08 a.m. on July 1 along Interstate 81 in Frailey Township. Troopers said Teklemariam K. Ghebreyesus, 50, of Matthews, North Carolina, driving a 2002 Freightliner Sprinter tractor-trailer, and Walter F. Gingrich, 71, of Temple, Berks County, driving a 2019 Volvo XC90, were both southbound with Gingrich in front of Ghebreyesus. Gingrich applied his brakes due to traffic ahead of him. The two vehicles then collided. No one was injured. The truck sustained disabling damages to the engine compartment and had to be towed. The Volvo had minor damages.

Ghebreyesus was cited for the crash.
