Local roundup: Results from July 26 and 27

The East squad came away with a victory in the 8-10 All-Star Game of the Panther Valley Little League Tournament on Wednesday.

East-West All-Star Game

The East All-Stars rallied back from an early deficit and held on late to defeat the West squad 24-20 in the Panther Valley 8-10 All-Star Game at Towamensing.

The East squad, comprised of players from Towamensing and Jim Thorpe, rallied from an 8-2 deficit after the top of the first inning and trailed 11-4 after two innings, but surged ahead with eight runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 14-12 lead.

After falling behind 16-14, a 10-run sixth inning, highlighted by an inside-the-park grand slam from Jake Collins, put the East ahead for good at 24-16. Collins (four runs scored) and Zack Zelinsky (three runs scored) both had two hits with multiple RBIs for the East team.

Brady Ivancich had a hit with three RBIs, while Dillon Welsh, Carmelo Torres and Cole Collins each had hits with a pair of RBIs and Carter Reis added a hit with an RBI, three runs scored and three walks. Jaxon O’Shura picked up the win, while Welsh earned the save.

Chayse Barron was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a pair of runs scored for the West (Tamaqua and Anthracite), which rallied with four runs in the top of the sixth inning. Cain Conner (two runs scored) and Adilynn O’Gurek (two walks, run scored) also had a pair of hits, while Ryan Geronimo (triple, three RBIs, two runs scored) and Cooper Lynn (three runs scored, two RBis) each had a hit and drove in multiple runs. Porter Wilson also had a hit, three walks and scored four runs.

Towamensing-Tamaqua 12

Tamaqua 12 wrapped up play in the Panther Valley Little League Tournament with a 12-2 win over Towamensing on Tuesday.

Nico Conahan was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored for Tamaqua (6-1), while Jake Fritzinger added two doubles, a pair of RBIs and scored twice. Ace Schickram also collected a hit, drove in a run and scored twice while Matthew Giuliano had a hit with an RBI and a run scored.

Parker Ahner was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored for Towamensing (4-3), while Lukas Rivera added a hit and an RBI.
