Carbon Career & Technical Institute
The Joint Operating Committee of the Carbon Career & Technical Institute approved the following items:
• Robert Presley, Jim Thorpe Area School District Superintendent, be appointed superintendent of record for Carbon Career & Technical Institute effective Aug. 1 through July 31, 2023.
• Dr. Deborah Smith (Switchback Medical Center, Inc., Jim Thorpe), school physician for the 2022-2023 school year, at a rate of $10 per student examination.
• King, Spry, Herman, Freund & Faul LLC law firm for specialized work projects for the 2022-2023 fiscal year on an as-needed basis at a rate to be negotiated.
• Brent Borzak, records retention officer for the Carbon Career & Technical Institute for the 2022-2023 school year.
• Resignation of Jalissa Kuehner, Marketing/Distributive Education Instructor, effective July 15.

• Salaries, prorated, as needed for advisor positions for the 2022-2023 school year, at a rate of $2,300 each: DECA/HOSA/SkillsUSA, Interact Rotary, National Technical Honor Society, SADD/Aevidum, Senior Class Advisor, Student Council, Underclass Advisor (Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior - combined), yearbook.
• Advisor rates set for $1,600 each: DECA Assistant Advisor, Podcast Club Mentor, SkillsUSA assistant advisor.
• Schoolwide co-curricular activities and student club/organization advisors, as needed at the established rates for the 2022-2023 school year: HOSA Advisor, Autumn Frey; SkillsUSA Advisor, Kevin Kuehner; eSports Advisor, Nate Rinda; Interact Rotary, Margaret Kalogerakis; National Technical Honor Society, Sue Ann Gerhard; SADD/Aevidum, Rebecca Schaeffer; Senior class advisor, Sandi Kohutka; Student Council, Jacqueline Cole; Underclass advisor, Brandi Schmoyer; Yearbook, JamiLynn McFarland-Johannsen; DECA assistant, Scott Bartholomew; Podcast Club, Maritza Reinbold; SkillsUSA assistant; Thomas Bartholomew and Nicole DeVincenzo.
• Wendi Bartholomew, computer/electronics engineering technology instructor, effective Aug. 22.
• Mary Jo Sadusky Health/Medical Assistant/Aide Instructor, effective Aug. 22. Mary Jo Sadusky has been in the health care field for over 34. She began her career as a CNA, worked up to an LPN and then continued on for her RN with a BSN.
• Bartholomew and Sadusky will work up to 10 additional days at the per diem rate, prior to Aug. 20.
• Jeremy Pease, teacher mentor for the 2022-2023 school year at the approved stipend of $1,000 for Bartholomew and Sadusky.
• Maritza Reinbold, graphic design instructor, employed for up to five additional days at per diem rate, prior to Aug. 20, for the creation, production and editing of CCTI promotional videos for recruitment and retention.
• Adam Reichard and Tara DeVincenzo as building substitutes effective Aug. 22, through the close of the 2022-2023 school year at the approved daily rate.
• Donna McClain, adult education nurse aide instructor, $33 per hour.
• Jeffry Nietz, guidance assistant, for a period of up to 100 days effective Aug. 1, for the 2022-2023 school year at a daily rate of $200. This position will be funded through the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief grant.
• Margaret Kalogerakis, student success coordinator for up to 70 days effective Aug. 1, for the 2022-2023 school year at a daily rate of $150.00. Note: This position will be funded through the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education grant.
• Lunch prices for the 2022-2023 school year: Students, Type A: $2.60; reduced, 40 cents; adults, $5.
• Zimmerman’s Dairy retained as the CCTI Milk/Juice Supplier for the 2022-2023 school year. Prices for milk and juice shall remain the same as quoted for the 2021-2022 school year. Milk prices are established by the PA Milk Marketing Board.
