The Tamaqua Blue squad won the championship in the Panther Valley 8-10 Little League Tournament over the weekend.

Tamaqua Blue captured the Panther Valley 8-10 tournament championship by defeating Tamaqua White, 13-0, on Saturday.

Tavin Makovec and Chayse Barron combined on a no-hitter to clinch the title.

Starter Makovec worked the first two-and-a-third innings, walking four and striking out four, while Barron tossed the final two-and-a-third frames. Barron walked one and fanned five to complete the no-hitter.

Joey Vidzicki went 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs for Tamaqua Blue. Cain Conner delivered a triple and knocked in three runs, while Makovec added a double, two runs and an RBI.

The winners, who used a seven-run fifth inning to close out the contest, also received a hit and two runs from Barron. Ryan Geronimo and Lucas Grim both chipped in by scoring two runs.

Towamensing-Anthracite

Ben Negley collected four hits, three of them for extra bases, to help Towamensing gain a 9-5 Panther Valley Little League tournament victory over Anthracite on Sunday.

Negley finished with a single, two doubles and a triple for the winners, who used a five-run third inning to take control of the game.

TJ Weller earned the pitching win in relief, allowing three hits and one run in two-and-a-third innings of work. He struck out four without walking anybody. Negley and Parker Ahner also pitched in relief to close out the victory. Starter Lukas Rivera fanned five, giving up one run and one hit, in one-and-a-third innings.

Towamensing’s Connor Buck also finished with multiple hits, including a three-run double during the third frame.

For Anthracite, Carson Jones and Gabe Perilli both collected two hits.

Jim Thorpe 11-Tamaqua 11

A big fourth inning lifted Tamaqua 11 to a 13-8 win over Jim Thorpe 11 on Saturday.

Gavin Shannon had two triples among his three hits for three RBIs and two runs scored for Tamaqua, which erased a 7-3 deficit with eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Chayse Smith added two hits with two RBIs and a run scored, and Troy Hartman doubled with a run scored.

Ben Remmel had a hit with two RBIs and a run scored for Jim Thorpe. Marshall Domski (RBI, run scored) and Blake Skrimkowsky also doubled.

FT 12-Towamensing

Franklin Township 12 cruised to a 17-0 win over Towamensing in three innings on Saturday.

Parker Rodgers (double, five RBIs, three runs scored) and Braylon Hunsicker (three RBIs, run scored) each had three hits for Franklin. Hunsicker also started and pitched two innings, striking out four while allowing two hits.

Chase Llewellyn added a double and a single with three runs scored and an RBI, while Noah McGinley had a double with two RBIs, and Cash White and Quinn Heimbach each singled with an RBI and scored two runs. Heimbach also pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

Ben Negley (walk), Xavier Ahner and A. Thomas each had hits for Towamensing.
