Parryville Borough Council

Parryville Council meeting approved the following business this week:

• Code enforcement has sent letters to property owners with concerns and is awaiting info regarding what needs further corrections.

• Council is trying to get funding to put sewage downtown. A third party is needed to do an income study to demonstrate that it is an impoverished area to qualify for financial assistance.

• Repairs are needed for the borough building and the fire company. The township will apply for grants.

• A bid of $33,928.60 was approved for Martin Paving to complete the Harrity Road project.

• Amtrust insurance for workman’s comp was approved for one year, to include an additional $275.

• Three business days will be needed to replace a light at Main and Water streets.

• The borough will be planning an electronics recycling event at the fire company on Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to noon. Decisions are being made regarding covering part of the cost for residence.

• The fire company will be holding several events. Today, funnel cakes will be for sale from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; a breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 7, and on Aug. 27 funnel cakes and a plant fest will be held in JFK Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• South Fire Line Road will be closed for at least a month. A culvert is being installed and it was noted that it is hard to get stone.

• The borough is looking at short term rental ordinances in other communities, before adopting one.
