State police at Schuylkill Haven

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers in Schuylkill County:

• A pedestrian was struck at 5:49 p.m. on July 4 along Route 443 in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Dominic C. Schillaci, 18, of Pine Grove, was walking along the eastbound shoulder while a 2017 Jeep Compass was driven eastbound.

Schillaci entered the roadway in front of the Jeep. The driver of the Jeep, who troopers declined to identify, slowed down and beeped the horn. Schillaci ran in front of the Jeep.

Schillaci was taken to St. Luke’s-Geisinger Hospital, Orwigsburg, for treatment of suspected minor injuries.

He was cited for crossing where there is no crosswalks.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 10:54 p.m. on July 4 at the intersection of South Greenview Road and Meadow Drive, in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Sophia M. Staskowski, 22, of New Ringgold, was driving a 2015 Hyundai Sonata when a deer ran in front of her.

Staskowski lost control and hit a guide rail. Staskowski was not injured but the vehicle was towed. She was cited for the crash.

• On June 24 at 11:24 p.m. troopers responded to a motorcycle crash along Route 209 in Branch Township. Troopers said Ralph J. Castellano, 63, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 2005 Harley-Davidson FXD northbound when the bike struck a tree. Castellano became airborne and suffered serious bodily injury. He was transported Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Troopers indicated Castellano was impaired and is facing a DUI charge plus a traffic violation for the crash.
