Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church 678 Pine Street, Palmerton (Bowmanstown), holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. and then traditional service at 11 a.m. You can worship in person or in the parking lot by tuning the radio station to 104.3 FM or Facebook Live.

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. is prayer and praise.

July mission is Peaceful Knights. It’s a not for profit corporation formed to help those in need to have temporary safe shelter and access to local organizations that provide assistance.

Band concert

The band concert in the Palmerton Borough Park on July 24 will be the Allentown Band. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. weather permitting. Please bring a lawn chair or blanket.

The following Sunday, July 31, the concert will be the Little Brass of the Lehigh Valley.

Food pantry

CACPAC sponsors the Palmerton Food Pantry, which will be held today through 2:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. The pantry supports residents of the Palmerton Area School District only and you will need to show proof of residency and answer questions regarding your income.

This is a drive-thru event, so please remain in your vehicle and follow instructions given by volunteers. If you are unable to attend, someone may pick up for you.

The pantry is always in need of nonperishable food items, paper and personal care items.

Donations may be dropped off at 459 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. Boxes are on the front porch for donations.

Sunday school picnic

The annual Sunday School Picnic at the Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church picnic grove is on Aug. 6 (rain date Aug. 7). The picnic starts at noon, with service at 2 p.m. Guest speaker is the Rev. Dr. Dean Frey (puppet ministry).

Afternoon activities include kiddie cake walk and fish pond at 3 p.m. Evening activities include cake walk for all ages at 6:30 p.m., followed by the raffle drawing. Live music by Last One Standing starting at 4 p.m. Great food, fellowship and fun for all!

Located at 500 Church Drive in Trachsville off Route 209 behind the Towamensing Fire Co.

Lions Club bingo

Palmerton Lions Club sponsors cash bingo every Tuesday at the Towamensing Fire Company on Route 209 in Trachsville. Doors open at 4 p.m.

Warm-up start at 6 p.m. and main bingo session starts at 6:30 p.m. Food is available for purchase.

Jerusalem UCC picnic

Jerusalem United Church of Christ 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, will hold its Annual Community Church Picnic on Aug. 13 from noon to 9 p.m. in the Church Grove. Rain date is Aug. 14.

Music is by the Main Street Cruisers and they will perform at 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Great food is available for purchase and at noon the church ladies and gentlemen will be ready to serve and greet you.

The free kiddie cake walk and games will start at 1 p.m.

A corn hole tournament will be at 3 p.m.

While there check out the tricky tray and raffle ticket drawings. The drawings will be at 9 p.m.

At 6:30 p.m. will be Trachsville’s Legendary Cake Walk.

Bring a lawn chair and spend the day. You will enjoy great food, great fun and great entertainment.

Historical society

PAHS will be having their annual members/guests picnic on Aug. 8 at 5 p.m. This year our picnic will take place at the Walnutport Canal Pavilion (this is a change) located on Lehigh Street. The society will provide turkey barbecue, baked beans, hot dogs, rolls, paper products and beverages (including wine). Everyone is requested to bring a side dish and/or dessert to share with others. Also, we are trying to arrange for the canal museum to be open for tours. They have done a great job in restoring the canal’s history.

The society needs to know who is planning to attend and their side dish/dessert. Please call Jane Borbe at 610-597-6807 to reserve. Also, you may call the Heritage Center at 610-824-6954 and leave a message.
