July 23, 1950 - Lehighton pounds out 20 hits en route to a decision 19-2 Panther Valley League victory over Tamaqua. Dick Murphy leads the way for the winners with four hits and two runs scored, while Dean Mullen collects a double, a triple and scores three times. The winners open the scoring with five runs in the first inning and put the game out of reach with a 10-run fourth frame. Leon “Moose” Kunkle pitches all nine innings for Lehighton and allows just five hits. Offensively, he contributes a pair of hits and scores two runs. Bobby Fisher also adds two hits, including a three-homer during the big fourth inning.
