Local Roundup: Results from July 21-22

The two Tamaqua teams and a Franklin Township squad gained recent wins in the Panther Valley 11-12 year-old Little League Tournament.

The Tamaqua 11s downed Anthracite and the Franklin 12s posted a win over the Franklin 11s on Friday, while the Tamaqua 12s rallied past Jim Thorpe 12 on Thursday.

Anthracite

Troy Hartman had a big day at the plate to help Tamaqua 11 roll to a 17-7 Panther Valley Little League tournament victory over Anthracite on Friday.

Hartman went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and four RBIs for the winners, who used back-to-back six-run innings to grab an early lead.

Bryce Eltringham added a pair of hits, one a double, scored twice and knocked in three runs, while Chance Makovec finished with a single, double and three runs. Mason Evans contributed two hits, two runs and two RBIs, with Ryder Holmberg delivering a couple hits, including a triple, a run and an RBI.

For Anthracite, Corrigan Crampsie had two hits and scored a run, while Carson Jones chipped in with a hit and two runs.

Franklin 11-

Franklin 12

Franklin Township 12 erupted for 10 runs in the second inning en route to a 12-2 victory over Franklin 11 in the Panther Valley Little League Tournament.

Cash White finished home run shy of the cycle for the Franklin 12s, going 3-for-4 with a single, double, triple and RBI in addition to scoring a run in the four-inning win. Brayden Ulshafer added a three-run homer and a single, while Noah McGinley doubled among his two hits with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored.

Braylon Hunsicker (single, triple) and Alex Bedocs (single, double) each had two hits and scored a run in the win.

Bedocs and McGinley each pitched two innings for the winners, combining to allow three hits while they both recorded a strikeout.

Landon Steigerwalt was 3-for-3 with three singles for the Franklin 11s, who led 2-1 going into the bottom of the second inning.

Tamaqua 12

Tamaqua 12 rallied for five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning Thursday to gain an 11-10 walkoff win over Jim Thorpe 12 in a Panther Valley Little League tournament game.

Aidan Elston singled home Brandon Case with the game-winning run after Thorpe had gone ahead 10-6 in the top of the sixth.

Elston finished with two hits, one a double, while Ace Shickram added a hit and three runs scored.

Gavin Edmonds chipped in with an RBI and two runs, with Jaedon Vidzicki finishing with a hit, run and RBI.

For Jim Thorpe, Dominic Kiehl was 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs. Anthony Kiehl and Tyler Hoherchak each chipped in with a hit and two runs.
