Walnutport Borough Council

Walnutport Borough Council took the following action on Thursday:

• Awarded the street repair project on South Canal Street to Bracalente Construction in the amount of $17,940.

• Agreed to transfer money from American Rescue COVID funds to pay a portion of the skid loader.

• Agreed to have borough solicitor Michael Corriere prepare and advertise the required changes to the MS4 stormwater management ordinance to become compliant with the MS4 model stormwater management for adoption in September.

• Accepted a letter of resignation from John Kirchner from the civil service commission. Along with that opening, the borough also has one vacancy on its planning commission, one on its UCC appeals board, and is in search of an alternate on its zoning hearing board.

• Adopted a resolution for the Monroe County Local Share Account 2023.

• Adopted a resolution for the Northampton County Local Share Account 2023.

• Agreed to have borough police Chief Pete Wayda attend Glock class in the amount of $250 to be paid from out of his education budget.

• Agreed to have borough police Sgt. Jason Nothstein attend a PA DUI conference in the amount of $700 to be paid from out of his education budget.

• Allowed the Blue Mountain 1/4 Midget Racing Association to use the parcel of land leased by Edgar Lorah Jr. for parking on July 15-17, and on Aug. 19. The borough has a signed agreement from Lorah, as well as insurance from BMQRA.

• Noted that a comprehensive plan meeting will be held at Lehigh Township on July 27.

• Agreed to allow fire police to assist the Northwestern Recreation Commission with traffic control on Aug. 20, with a rain date of Aug. 21, for “A Night in the Country.”
