Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Ralph Saunders will present the message at the 10:25 a.m. worship service at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle. Special music will be presented by Alle (Gerber) Wommer and VBS. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. and evening service at 6:30 p.m. There is no Wednesday prayer meeting this week.

Upcoming events: July 16, The Lumber River Quartet will perform at 6 p.m.; Chiz Rider, along with his son, will present a concert on trumpet on July 31 at 6:30 p.m. A free will offering will be collected.

Christmas in July

Christmas in July will be in full swing in Tamaqua on July 23. The day begins at 10 a.m. with music and a vendor fair at Hope & Coffee on Pine Street and continues until 4 p.m.

At 11 a.m. Santa, his elves and some costumed characters will be arriving at Depot Square Park. They will then take a walk over to South Railroad Street, where there will be a “Meet and Greet” with Santa. Professional photos with Santa will be available for a small fee.

If you want to get out of the sun and cool off, the Tamaqua Public Library will be open and at 11:30 a.m. Frosty the Snowman will be reading some stories to make you feel cool and think of Christmas.

Children’s activities will take place from noon to 3 p.m. The area between Tink’s Antiques and the Tamaqua Library will be filled with lots to do - games, crafts, face painting, treats and more.

Porcupine Pat will be there with old-fashioned toys. St. Luke’s will share information on children’s health and the Citizen’s Fire Company will have a firetruck there.

The day is not only for children. Adults can enjoy some activities both indoors and outdoors. At noon St. John Lutheran Church on Mauch Chunk Street is hosting a Victorian Tea for a fee. Reservations are required and you can make reservations by calling 570-640-5261.

At 3 p.m. It Takes Two will perform a free concert at the train station. Bring your chair and settle in for some great music. This concert is being sponsored by Cal’s Tire & Auto Service, Bowe & Odorizzi Law Office, Smulligan Glass Shop and Tom’s Auto & Marine.

At 5:30 p.m. there will be a Christmas In July Church Service at Zions Evangelical Lutheran Church on North Greenwood Street.

In addition, the Tamaqua Historical Society on West Broad Street will open at noon and have an old-fashioned toy display.

And we cannot forget the food - Several food trucks will be located throughout the town. You can pick your favorite from the following: Blazing Swine BBQ, Grumpy’s Bar-B-Que Roadhouse, Gyro Truck, La Dolce Casa Wood-fired Pizza Truck, Maddie Ann’s Perogies and Suep Kitchen.

Tamaqua is the place to be on July 23. Come join us for the entire day or just stop by for a quick bite to eat and leave with some Christmas Spirit.

In the event of inclement weather, children’s activities and the free concert will be move to the Perla Building on West Broad Street.

July 24: 10 a.m. Worship Service/VBS Closing Program at West Penn Park luncheon fundraiser.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday at Zion Church Lewistown Valley with guest speaker, Brian Perkins. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

American Primitive

Sunday worship service is at 10:30 a.m. at American Primitive Methodist Church. The service is available at www.tamaquachurch.org and www.facebook.com/PMChurchTamaqua.

There will be no Sunday school until further notice.

Hope in the Mountains Nar-Anon Family Group meets at 57 Hunter St.
