The Towamensing/Anthracite softball team stayed alive in the Little League 10-12 year-old Sectional Tournament with a victory on Wednesday.

8-10 SECTIONALS

Facing elimination, Towamensing/Anthracite delivered an 8-5 win over Warrington in the 8-10 Section Tournament.

Bella Marques pitched, and for the second straight night, once again recorded double digit strikeouts. She finished the game with 10.

Abby Marques moving from third in the order to leadoff, walked three times and scored twice. Autumn Burger walked twice, scoring both times. Kensington Strohl was 1-for-3 with a hit and an RBI.

In the top of sixth inning, Madelyn Binder added an insurance run with a two-out home run.

Towamensing/Anthracite will look to avenge an opening-round loss when they face off Thursday night against Pocono Mountain West.

Tamaqua 12’s-JT 11’s

The Tamaqua 12’s rolled to a 10-2 win over the Jim Thorpe 11’s in the Panther Valley 10-12 Little League Tournament.

Aidan Elston was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored for Tamaqua, while James Wronski added two hits and scored a run. Jake Fritzinger (double) and Brian Godinez Benigno added a hit, RBI and scored a run, while Gavin Edmonds and Jaedon Vidzicki collected a hit and scored a run.

Dominic Calcano was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a double for Jim Thorpe. Ben Remmel also added two hits, while Marshall Domski (double) and Bryce McElmoyle also added hits.

Anthracite-Tam White

Anthracite prevailed against Tamaqua White, 6-5, in the Panther Valley 8-10 Little League Tournament.

Kellan Krajcirik pitched five strong innings to pick up the win. Zack Bartzak and Abraham Graver each had two hits for Tamaqua.

Kale Koerbler, Cooper Lynn and Brian McLaughlin each had two hits for Anthracite.
