Benefit for Dylan and Gavin’s Rainbow at Drive-In
A benefit to raise funds for Dylan & Gavin’s Rainbow will be held at the Mahoning Valley Drive-In on Thursday.
It will feature a fundraiser screening of Robert Zemeckis’ animated classic “The Polar Express” (2004) on 35 mm as a hint of “Christmas in July.”
General gates open at 6 p.m. Showtime is at sundown. The cost for general tickets is $10 per person. General-plus-overnight is $16 per person.
Proceeds from the event will go to Dylan & Gavin’s Rainbow, founded by Lora and Dave Krum, in memory of their sons, Dylan and Gavin Krum.
They reach out and provide spiritual and financial support to families who are experiencing a serious illness of a child or loss of a child.
Visitors are asked to join in on the run as they ride the rails to wintry musical fun with Tom Hanks, Peter Scolari, Eddie Deezen and Steven Tyler as a young boy discovers the joy and magic of life en route to Santa’s sanctuary.
There will also be some fun pre-movie activities including “Christmas Karaoke,” along with “Do You Wanna Build (and Eat) a Snowman?” “Snowflake Art” and “Reindeer Games.”

Snowflake 5K
The in-person return of the “Snowflake 5K and Remembrance Weekend” will take place at 9 a.m. Dec. 10 in Lehighton.
Lora and Dave Krum also serve as co-presidents of Dylan and Gavin’s Rainbow Ministry.
They said raffle tickets to support their ministry are available to be purchased, with the drawing to be held this year on Dec. 11.
The Snowflake 5K was lovingly inspired by the remembrance Gavin and Dylan Krum, who lost their lives after fast and fierce battles with childhood cancer and its treatments.
Dylan and Gavin’s Rainbow is a nonprofit organization that reaches out to families who are experiencing a serious condition of a child, and also to families who have experienced child loss.
This is because during the very difficult days when the Krums’ boys were sick and hospitalized, they were overwhelmed with the generosity and love that surrounded them.
