Schuylkill County is gearing up for its annual fall cleanup.
The cleanup will take place from Sept. 6 through Sept. 17 among 16 sites: Pottsville, Minersville, the CES landfill in Hegins, Girardville, North Manheim Township, Schuylkill Haven, Wayne Township, Porter Township, Pine Grove Township, the Tamaqua Transfer Station, Ringtown, New Ringgold, Mahanoy City, Branch Township, East Union Township and Tremont.
The Schuylkill County website will have the exact locations of each site.
This year’s accepted item list will include tires, appliances, and bulky items, and it’s open to all Schuylkill County residents.
There will be no electronics accepted this year.
The Department of Environmental Protection reimburses the county up to half the cost of the cleanup and advertising.
In a related move, commissioners approved advertising for bids for waste tire collection and recycling. Bids will be accepted in the controllers office until 3 p.m. Aug. 1.
The bids will be opened in the commissioners board room at 9 a.m. Aug. 3, and the tentative bid awarded at the public commissioners meeting at 10 a.m. Aug. 10.
On Wednesday, county commissioners also approved advertising for bids for the bulky item collection.
