Walker swears in new police officer

Walker Township Supervisor Craig Wagner officially swore in new part-time officer Harry Brown, welcoming him to the township.

Brown, who previously worked with the Minersville Borough Police Department, will work approximately 20 hours per week and will mostly work Thursday through Sunday evenings.

Brown has already been on the job since June 10, when his hiring was approved at a special meeting held by the Walker Township Supervisors.

Brown thanked the supervisors and said, “I look forward to serving the area and doing what I can.”

“We appreciate everything you and Chief (Doug) Springer have been doing for the township already,” Wagner said.

In related news, Police Chief Doug Springer mentioned that he and Brown had quite a few complaints about fireworks again this year.

“I had one email sent to me personally. We do want people to call 911 and not send emails or notify specific officers. We want to be notified through the Comm Center.

“If the township police are not available, Pennsylvania State Police can also respond.”
