A commuter air service was proposed for the Carbon County Airport in Mahoning Township during a meeting of the airport authority Thursday night.

William Bechtel, chairman, said the reality of the service would be dependent upon the availability of federal funding.

According to Bechtel, such a commuter setup would consist of daily flights from the airport to Newark, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C.

A new terminal building and jet fuel facilities would have to be built at the local airport, he said.
