Jim Thorpe opened the District 18 9-11-year-old Little League Tournament with two wins over the weekend. Tamaqua also posted a victory.

9-11 TOURNAMENT

Jim Thorpe-V. West

Jim Thorpe posted a 7-4 win over Valley West in the District 18 9-11 Little League Tournament on Sunday.

Kade Levan had four hits, including a double, and two runs scored for Jim Thorpe, while Ben Remmel recorded three hits. Lucas Knopf and Dominic Calcano both added a pair of hits, and Marshall Domski and Blake Skrimcovsky also had hits.

Jim Thorpe will face the winner of the Tamaqua-Valley West game on Friday.

Tamaqua-Franklin

Tamaqua posted a 9-2 victory over Franklin Township in the District 18 9-11-year-old Tournament on Sunday.

T.J. Hartman, Ryder Holmberg and Jayden Rex all had two hits apiece for Tamaqua. Holmberg also doubled and had three RBIs. Chance Makovec struck out six in 3 1/3 innings pitched to earn the win.

With the victory, Tamaqua, will play Valley West on Wednesday.

Franklin.-Jim Thorpe

Jim Thorpe cruised to an 18-4 win over Franklin Township in the District 18 9-11 Little League Tournament on Saturday.

Marshall Domski doubled, while Carter Grant, Ben Remmel and Dominic Calcano all singled for Jim Thorpe.

Jake Albert had two singles and a run scored for Franklin.

Valley West-Tamaqua

Valley West rolled to a 17-2 win over Tamaqua in the District 18 9-11 Little League Tournament on Saturday.

Bryce Eltringham, Chance Makovec, Ryder Holmberg and Jayden Rex (RBI) all had hits for Tamaqua.
