Northern Valley split a doubleheader with Whitehall Wednesday in Lehigh Valley Legion action.

Whitehall-Northern Valley

Wesley George pitched a gem to lead Northern Valley past Whitehall 3-0 in the first game of a Lehigh Valley Legion doubleheader.

George allowed one hit in five innings, striking out five with three walks. Nicholas Scott had a hit and an RBI for Northern Valley. Evan Druckenmiller also added a hit.

Whitehall bounced back with a 12-0 win in the second game.

Jack Duld was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored for Whitehall, while Tyler Mastropieri and Dylan Carfara (two RBIs, two runs scored) each tripled. Mastropieri allowed one hit in three innings, with five strikeouts.

Wesley George had the lone hit for Northern Valley.

Carbon-South Parkland

One bad inning spoiled a solid pitching performance by Michael Yeakel, as the Carbon Monarchs dropped a 3-2 Lehigh Valley Legion contest to South Parkland.

The winners scored all their runs in the home fourth, with two of the tallies coming in on an error and the other on a sacrifice fly. Kurt Meehan opened the frame with a single, and Jaiden Wanamaker followed with a double. A miscue plated both runners, while a fly ball from Chase Mengel chased home the third run.

The Monarchs got a run back in the fifth when Aiden Rarick singled, stole second, moved to third on an error and stole home. Carbon pulled even closer in the seventh as Ian Rarick walked, stole second, moved up on a miscue and raced home on a wild pitch.

Yeakel allowed just four hits and one walk, while striking out five in six innings of work.

The loss dropped the Monarchs to 8-7, while South Parkland improved to a perfect 16-0.

Palmerton-Pen Argyl

Pen Argyl jumped out to an early lead before turning back Palmerton 6-4 in a Lehigh Valley Legion contest.

Luke Matsko was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored for Palmerton, which trailed 5-0 after the second inning.

Dalton Rumfield added two hits, while Nate Steinmetz also collected a hit and Mason George also had an RBI.

The loss dropped the Bombers to 4-10-1.

Berlinsville-Avengers

The Avengers scored in every inning but one to hand the Berlinsville Braves an 11-6 Blue Mountain League defeat.

Jim Thorpe graduate Noah Snisky had a big game for Berlinsville, finishing 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run,

The Braves (7-12) also received a single, double and two RBIs from both Shane Fillman and Colin Houck.

Blake Barthol had three hits and scored twice for the Avengers, now 5-10-1, while Matt Tankred added a triple and knocked in two runs.
