Bring the kids, pack a lunch, and prepare to be entertained as part of a family-filled day in the community hub of Palmerton.
Palmerton Day will be held from 1-6 p.m. Sunday in the borough park.
There will be activities galore, all at no cost, according to Joe Federanich of the Palmerton Bandstand Committee.
“It’s to stimulate the kids and the people to come into the park,” Federanich said. “It’s to take advantage of the bandstand to hear some nice music.”
Federanich noted the event was originally scheduled for last year but got rained out.
“If it’s successful, we’ll do it again next year,” he said. “Everything at this (event) all day long, is absolutely free.”
The schedule of events is as follows:
• 1 p.m. - Mayor Don Herrmann will provide the welcome, which will include recognition of Special Olympics athletes Delina Rodrigues and Matthew Anthony, with games for children immediately following to 3 p.m.
• 1-3 p.m. - Tour of emergency vehicles on Fourth Street.
• 1-4 p.m. - Face painting.
• 2-4 p.m. - Big Toy Program, sponsored by the Palmerton Historical Society.
• 3-4 p.m. - Duck Race for children.
• 4-6 p.m. - Ricki & Friends perform in the Bandstand.
• 7-8:30 p.m. - Palmerton Band, sponsored by The Concourse Club.
