State police at Frackville - CRASHES

State police at Frackville reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 12:03 a.m. on June 22 along Route 54 (Pine Creek Drive), in Rush Township. Troopers said Aaron J. Bailey, 24, of Tamaqua, was driving a 2021 Chevrolet Trax westbound, just west of Marian Avenue, when he fell asleep at the wheel and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle went onto the right berm and crashed into guide rail.

Bailey sustained a suspected minor injury and was treated at the scene by Tamaqua ambulance personnel. The vehicle had to be towed.

Bailey was cited for the crash.

• Another crash was reported in Rush Township on June 25 at 12:16 a.m. along Route 309 (Claremont Avenue), near the intersection with East Main Street. Troopers said Zachary M. Yachera, 28, of McAdoo, was driving a 2008 Subaru Forester northbound when he suffered a sneezing episode which caused him to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle traveled onto the right shoulder and crashed into a utility pole.

Yachera refused medical treatment, troopers said, and the vehicle had to be towed.

Yachera was cited for the crash.

• Troopers said a crash occurred at 12:08 a.m. on June 23 along Interstate 81 in Butler Township. Troopers said Deanna Schack, 55, of Perrysburg, Ohio, was driving a 2021 Nissan Rogue northbound when a deer entered the road in front of her. She swerved to avoid the animal with the vehicle going onto the right berm, where it rolled over onto its roof.

Schack sustained a suspected minor injury and was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital East, Pottsville, by Shenandoah ambulance. The vehicle had to be towed.

A one-vehicle crash was reported at 12:41 p.m. on June 26 along Interstate 81 in Mahanoy Township. Troopers said Michael F. McKeon, 69, of Auburn, New York, was driving a 2020 GMC northbound when he fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle went off the road into the median area. It then drove off the I-81 bridge that goes over Route 54, and became airborne. The GMC then rolled over onto its roof and came to rest in the right lane of Route 54.

McKeon and his female passenger, who was not identified by police, were taken to an area hospital.

He was cited for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
