Trinity happenings

First Saturday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., with Holy Communion and Baptisms begins at 5 p.m. Sunday worship with Holy Communion begins at 9:30 a.m. Holy Communion is served by continuous line with wafer placed in your open hand, and wine or grape juice in a small cup. Gluten-free wafers are available to those with allergy issues. The Rev. Nancy Moore presides. Vicar Sarah Moore assists.

The church office is closed Monday, July 4.

First Tuesday worship Quiet Communion without musical accompaniment is July 5 at 11 a.m.

The Trinity Thrift Store is open without reservations. Shopping and drop-off hours are Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours, limited to five bags or boxes. The Food Pantry continues to be open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting and precautionary measures in place. Residents in need who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive prepackaged supplemental food items. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pickup. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

For those desiring to schedule a baptism or seek membership at Trinity, please contact the church office to register for the 11:30 a.m. instruction sessions for July. Baptismal guidelines are held on the third Sunday, overview for prospective new members is held the fourth Sunday with Pastor Moore.

Community Vacation Bible School for students pre-K through sixth grade is Aug. 2-4, 6-8 p.m. The theme: Making Waves; What You Do Today Can Change the World. Registration is free. Please contact the church office at 610-377-4303 for preregistration.

Trinity Lutheran Church was built in 1873. Plans are forming to celebrate this milestone throughout 2023. You are invited to contribute ideas at a planning meeting following worship July 10.

A note regarding the progress of the Illini4000 bike team pedaling across America raising awareness and funds for cancer research. They had a stopover in Lehighton in late May, at 129 miles on their route. The team is currently pedaling through South Dakota, over 2,000 miles logged in.
