June 27, 2001 - Matt Long has a big day at the plate to help Lehighton outscore Northwestern, 17-9, in a Lehigh Valley Legion contest. Long blasts a three-run homer in the first inning, adds a triple and another RBI, and scores four runs in the victory. Ryan Smith also collects three of Lehighton’s 19 hits and knocks in three runs. The winners, who score in every inning including five in both the second and fifth frames, also receive four hits and two runs from Jason Kein. Winning pitcher Ryan Gorka helps his own cause with a couple hits, one a solo homer, and three runs, while Jake Tarr and Tim Kurchak each contribute a pair of hits.
