Questions raised over recently sold campgrounds

Questions arose at the Franklin Township supervisors meeting regarding the sale of RelaxNation, a campsite facility at 1500 Rock St., Franklin Township.

Roger Crum owns a home on Rock Street right next door to the campgrounds.

“I just wanted to find out what’s going in there, and what’s approved,” Crum asked. “The way the paper (Times News) wrote it, it sounded like there was a lot of stuff approved already.”

Crum questioned an issue with site’s sewer system, indicating that it has been a problem for years, which he said he can smell from his home. He also mentioned a pavilion that had been erected and ended up having large crowds and loud music. He is hoping the new owners will make the necessary upgrades.

“They (the new owners) have not approached the township yet,” Supervisor Jason Frey said. “No one came to us about the new cabins; there are cabins there now that are not permitted, nobody came in for any permits.”

As was reported in the Times News earlier, the investors, Deepak Bhatnagar of Flemington, New Jersey, and Kuldeep Kumar of New York, purchased the 48-acre RelaxNation at 1500 Rock St. earlier this month for $3.8 million. The other investors are Dilbag Singh of Pennsylvania and Namrata Sharma of New Jersey.

“We are adding 10 new cabins, fully renovating a house, and moving a chalet on the property to a better location,” Bhatnagar said. “We also plan to clean up the property, and hire a consultant/management company to run it.”

Frey added, “The plus side is that it’s the same people who own the Hampton Inn. They always come in for permits and do things the right way for the hotel. The article in the paper was probably what they would like to do. We expect they will be contacting the township soon.”
