New Ringgold man died in crash

A New Ringgold man has been identified as the driver killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday when a tree fell across Route 443 in Schuylkill County.

Leo Charles Belsak, 66, died from injuries sustained in the crash, which took at 12:32 a.m. along Route 443 at Orchard Lane, in East Brunswick Township.

Troopers said a large, rotted tree fell across the road, blocking both lanes of travel.

Troopers said the 66-year-old cyclist was eastbound when the bike struck the tree.

Belsak was pronounced dead at the scene by a member of the county coroner’s office.

According to his obituary, Belsak was the manager of his family’s bar, the Ringgold Inn, for many years.

“He reveled in being outdoors,” the obituary states, “whether it be searching for arrowheads, riding his motorcycle, or playing horseshoes with friends.”
