A Lehighton man pleaded guilty on Monday in Carbon County court to a drug dealing charge and was told he faced a prison term at the time of sentencing.
Burl F. Hosier Jr., 55, entered a plea before Judge Steven R. Serfass to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance - methamphetamine. He was originally charged with firearms not to be carried without a license, felony 3, possession of a firearm with manufacturer number altered, a felony 2, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. The charge he pleaded to was not among the original counts.
He was arrested by Lehighton police on the charge on July 23, 2021, when officers went to a residence along North First Street to serve a warrant. Found in the home was 4.3 grams of meth and $1,540 in U.S. currency.
He also pleaded to a driving under the influence charge. He was arrested on that count on March 17, 2021, by state police at Lehighton following a vehicle stop for faulty equipment.
Serfass told Hosier, under state sentencing guidelines, for the drug count, he faces a minimum prison term of somewhere between 21 and 27 months in the standard range.
Serfass deferred sentencing, ordering the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.
