Son of Schuylkill treasurer, woman, dead in Frackville

Two people were found dead of gunshot wounds in a home in Frackville Thursday morning, including the son of Schuylkill County Treasurer Linda Yeich.

Deputies with the Schuylkill County Coroner’s Office pronounced David Zerby, 33 and Megan Beury, 34, dead at 9:47 a.m. Thursday.

They were reportedly discovered by family members inside a home at 28 N. 4th St.

An autopsy took place Thursday afternoon. Schuylkill County Coroner David Moylan said the cause of death for both Zerby and Beury was a gunshot to the head. An autopsy was conducted Thursday afternoon. .

A deputy coroner told the Pottsville Republican-Herald that the death appeared to be a murder-suicide. State police and Frackville Police were on scene Thursday.

Schuylkill County property records state that the home at 28 N. 4th St. is owned by Linda and Gary Marchalk. Marchalk was Yeich’s married name.

Zerby’s death was the second personal tragedy Yeich has experienced since her election in 2015. In 2017, her husband, Tamaqua attorney Gary Marchalk, was beaten to death by his son, Michael. Michael Marchalk received a 24 ½ to 49-year prison sentence for third degree murder.
