Schuylkill to get more for gas easement
Schuylkill County will be getting a bit more money for a gas company easement in Butler Township.
County engineer Lisa Mahall on Wednesday asked commissioners to approve a revision to the settlement agreement for a public utility right of way agreement with UGI Utilities Inc. The easement is for a 30-foot permanent and temporary construction easement on a parcel of county-owned land off Gordon Mountain Road in Butler Township.
The settlement agreement has been revised to reflect an increase in the total compensation to the county, which will be compensated $83,460.96 for the easement. The original amount, approved on June 7, was $83,003.58.
In other matters at the workshop meeting, commissioners approved a $48,468.77 budget supplement on behalf of a Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency STOP grant.
STOP (Services, Training, Officers, and Prosecutors) grants pay for developing and strengthening the criminal justice system’s response to violence against women, and to support and enhance services for victims.
An additional related supplemental budget appropriation for $26,256.61 was also approved.
Commissioners also approved a budget adjustment for the Tax Assessment Office of $1,100.
Also on Wednesday, commissioners approved the hiring of Logan Goines of Pottsville as a clerk typist in Human Services. Goines will earn $11 an hour. He’ll start his new job on June 27.
In other personnel matters:
• Rosemary Veach of North Manheim Township retired as a caseworker for Children & Youth Services Agency on June 9.
• Heather Nelson of Ashland will resign as a caseworker for the agency on June 17.
• Morgan Guers of Pottsville will start as a part-time victim advocate clerical aide in the district attorney’s office on June 20. She’ll earn $14.92 an hour.
• Theresa Zubris of New Philadelphia will retire as office support/secretarial in the Human Resources Department on June 30.
• Courtney Moyer of Schuylkill Haven resigned as a part-time corrections officer on June 4.
• Jeremy Cassel of Valley View will start his new job as deputy coroner/investigator on July 5. He’ll be paid according to the coroner’s office fee schedule.
